Unity of the Godhead. EVENING MEDITATION ON TODAY’S MANNA OF MARCH 27TH, 2022READ: GENESIS 11:1-32Scriptural unity1. Unity of the godheadThe unity of the Godhead of the triune God is a perfect example of the unity expected among people of God.a. There was comstant communication between the Trio, v6.b. The observation of the Trio was based on the truth without sentiment and there was no disagrement on facts because truth is truth. None argue against the truth for whatever motive, v6.c. There was agreement on the future implications of the people’s wrong actions, v6. They saw things the same way.d. There was agreement on their plan of actions with no dissenting voice, v7. They had the same mind.e. There was agreement on the implementation of their plan of action, v7. They all surrendered to the path of wisdom not minding who brought the idea.f. There was perfect achievement of goals and plans, v8. Unity will always bring irresitible results in line with the project, either good or bad.g. Obviously, no individualistic, private personal agenda. They were all committed to the truth and right.h. All the three were involved in every aspect of the decisions without any claiming seniority or superiority.Questionsa. Apart from often communication every step of the way, what other factors made their unity very possible?b. What are the lessons on the unity of the Godhead shown above that you need to imbibe?Purity of heart, commitment to the truth and the right, self effacement, lack of superiority complex are some of the essentials of unity.2. Unity of the godlessa. The unity of the godless is opposed to the will and word of God. For example, God commanded man to multiply and cover the whole earth in the garden of Eden while they were putting in place what will make them never to scatter, v4.b. They had a welfarism kind of approach which appeared good but the motive is godless, v4. They wanted to make a name for themselves.c. Their reasoning was perverted, void of the wisdom of God because it came from unregenerated hearts. What is the purpose of making a name for themselves when in actuality they will be the only people on earth dwelling in the same location?d. The corollary is that unity in something that is generally acceptable by generality of people with commonly acceptable reasoning is not necessarily godly and acceptable to God. Unity on right actions underlined with wrong motives is equally godless.QuestionDo you always subject your unity with people on different areas to the will and word of God?3. Unity of the godlya. Jesus prayed for unity of believers. If it is not important to Him He would not have done so, John 17:20,21.b. Keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace will not come cheaply. It must be diligently and prayerfully pursued with commitment to it, Ephesians 4:3.c. Lowliness, meekness, long-suffering and forbearance are non- negotiable virtues that promote unity and we must pray for abundance of this grace in our lives, Ephesians 4:2.Questionsa.
