ULTIMATE CARE DEVOTIONAL🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2022🎁💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦TODAY’S TEXT: 📕AUTHOR AND THE FINISHER OF OUR FAITH“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.TEXT: Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)MESSAGE🍎An Author is the originator or creator, as of a theory or plan. The Greek word translated “Author” in Hebrews 12:2 can also mean “Captain”, “Chief leader” or “Prince”. Acts 3:15 uses the same word: “And killed the Prince of Life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses” (KJV), while the NIV and ESV use the word “author” instead of “Prince”.“And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses” (ACTS 3:15)From this we can deduce that Christ is the originator of our faith in that He begins it, as well as the Captain and Prince of our faith. This indicates that Jesus controls our faith, steers it as Captain steers a ship, and presides over it and cares for it as a monarch presides over and cares for his people.The believer in Christ Jesus has a role model to look up to; this is not just a role model but a God model. Jesus is a good example; He never said anything without being the first to do it. When he said he love us he proved it by dying on the cross for us (John 3:16); “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”, and when he said he was the resurrection and the life, he proved it by his resurrection from the dead (JOHN 11:25); “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live”. He commences our faith and ends it: He was tested at all points and yet without sin (HEBREWS 4:15); “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin”.He knows all our infirmities and is prepared to see us all the way through our faith walk with Him. Dear reader, do you need someone to depend upon? Look no further, look to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
