Ephesians 1:6.Amazing Grace is aligned with scriptures and powerfully declares the wonder of God’s Grace.The writer of the song “Amazing Grace” John Newton had a powerful testimony of coming to faith. The song was born out of his profound transformation from encountering the gospel and saving grace of God.John Newton wrote the song, Amazing Grace in the year, 1772. He was 47 years old when he wrote the song “Amazing Grace”. He was a sailor, touring the seas of African coast searching for slaves, capturing them and selling them for profits. He was a captain of slave ships, invested in the slave industry, was a slave owner. He eventually became an ordained minister and abolitionist in 1754. The story of John Newton’s perfect change came during a storm on the sea that could have led to the loss of him and his crew. According to history John Newton prayed during the fierce storm that God should save them, and they went on to survive the storm. This is the salvation story of John Newton.
