🍎The Language of PRIDE🍎Pride is a relationship-killer. Did you know that? It’s true….Pride will take your friendships, your marriage, and any other relationship you value, and tear them up into shreds. In its wake, pride will leave behind hurt, bitterness, destruction, and pain. Not a pretty picture, is it?Let’s look at the specifics of what Pride does to a person, and apply it to its effects on marriage…*• Pride makes people feel independent and self-sufficient. In other words, no need to depend on God or anyone else for help. Uh oh, big mistake here!*•Pride makes people self-righteous and critical of others. Their “spiritual gift” is fault-finding. Can you see the damage that can bring to a marriage? A wife who is constantly critical of her husband will tear him down, wear him down, and make him either depressed, angry, or both! The writer of Proverbs says that it is “better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.” (Proverbs 21:9; 25:24). Wow.*•Pride makes people feel the need to be right all the time. Unfortunately, the “I’m right, you’re wrong” mentality will not build strong, healthy marriages. Where is the submission? Where is the humility? Proving you’re right (even if you are!) often comes at the expense of tearing down your husband. I just don’t think that’s worth the temporary victory.*•Pride makes people defensive when criticized. Criticism is not always bad. Proverbs 15:31 says, “If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise.“ Likewise, Proverbs 25:12 says, “To one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry.” However, if you’re full of pride, criticism strikes an ugly chord, and your immediate response is to get defensive. This is something that I struggle with majorly, and it has caused many an argument in the Marshall marriage.*•Pride makes it hard to apologize when you are wrong. Ooh, believe me, I know! I have that inner battle and turmoil every time I need to apologize, because Pride does not like to get wounded. But it is amazing how an apology can fizzle away so much stored up anger, saving your marriage from an unnecessary blow-up!*•Pride can even make a person insecure (because Pridefully we want to be perfect, but realistically we know we are not), which is dangerous in a marriage. Insecurity can lead a wife to distrust and falsely accuse her husband of negative or adulterous thoughts or actions; it can cause a wife to doubt her husband’s love for her, her body, her sense of humor, etc., and can cause deep hurt in a marriage when those insecurities are allowed to fester.*•Pride makes a person self-centered, wrapped up in thoughts of her own comfort, own well-being, own opinions, and own points of view – often dismissing or excluding others (including a husband!) in the process. Not a communicative, healthy, growing marriage there.As Beth Moore’s poem in my last post stated, Pride is a cheater. Pride will cheat you out of contentedness, holiness, genuine friendship, love, your God-given destiny, and greatness in heaven, among other things. Why then, do we choose to hang on to Pride? Because Pride is tricky. It is deceitful. It seems harmless at first. It even hides in the form of insecurity or self-pitying withdrawal. What we need to do is REPENT of our sin of pride, not nurse our wounded pride or feed our inflated ego.For the sake of our marriage, our friendships, and (most importantly) our relationship with God, we need to examine ourselves, turn to God and ask for forgiveness. Take the humble route, and ask your husband for forgiveness in areas where you may be weak. You may find that he is struggling in those areas as well, or he may even reassure you in areas where your Pride has caused you to doubt his love for you!Remember the last lines of Beth Moore’s poem:God has so much for you, I admit, but don’t worry…If you stick with meYou’ll never know.You have a choice to make, every day: stick with Pride, and miss out on all God has in store for you and your marriage, OR stick with God and find out all the adventure that He has in store for you and your marriage! The old nature is very active, and loses no opportunity of plying all the weapons of its deadly armoury against newborn grace; while on the other hand, the new nature is ever on the watch to resist and destroy its enemy. Grace within us will employ prayer, and faith, and hope, and love, to cast out the evil; it takes unto it the “whole armour of God,” and wrestles earnestly. These two opposing natures will never cease to struggle so long as we are in this world. The battle of “Christian” with “Apollyon” lasted three hours, but the battle of Christian with himself lasted all the way from the Wicket Gate to the river Jordan. The enemy is so securely entrenched within us that he can never be driven out while we are in this body: but although we are closely beset, and often in sore conflict, we have an Almighty helper, even Jesus, the Captain of our salvation, who is ever with us, and who assures us that we shall eventually come off more than conquerors through Him. With such assistance the new-born nature is more than a match for its foes. Are you fighting with the adversary today? Are Satan, the world, and the flesh, all against you? Be not discouraged nor dismayed. Fight on! For God Himself is with you; Jehovah Nissi is your banner, and Jehovah Rophi is the healer of your wounds. Fear not, you shall overcome, for who can defeat Omnipotence? I am both his servant and his disciple, and count it my highest honour to own the double character. If he should ask me why I call him “good,” I should have a ready answer. It is true that “there is none good but one, that is, God,” but then he is God, and all the goodness of Deity shines forth in him. In my experience, I have found him good, so good, indeed, that all the good I have has come to me through him. He was good to me when I was dead in sin, for he raised me by his Spirit’s power; he has been good to me in all my needs, trials, struggles, and sorrows. Never could there be a better Master, for his service is freedom, his rule is love: I wish I were one thousandth part as good a servant. When he teaches me as my Rabbi, he is unspeakably good, his doctrine is divine, his manner is condescending, his spirit is gentleness itself. No error mingles with his instruction—pure is the golden truth which he brings forth, and all his teachings lead to goodness, sanctifying as well as edifying the disciple. Angels find him a good Master and delight to pay their homage at his footstool. The ancient saints proved him to be a good Master, and each of them rejoiced to sing, “I am thy servant, O Lord!” My own humble testimony must certainly be to the same effect. Our Daily Reflection💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO GODMay 31, 2022Reflection:John 17:18’As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.’Text : ISAIAH 42:8; 48:11.✍️✍️✍️✍️✍️✍️We are not from the world. Through the new birth, we come from God and should constantly remind ourselves of this. It is not good to be too ‘at home’ in the world. We are in the world but are not of the world. Great men and women of God have always had this attitude.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️The primary reason that God chooses to use those who are nothing by the world’s standards, is so no one else can take credit for the great things that are accomplished.👍👍👍👍👍👍If the Lord used those who had it ‘all together’ in the natural, then they would share the glory that rightfully belongs to God alone. But when the Lord works miraculously through someone who obviously has no talent or ability, then everyone says, ‘This must be God.’Not only does this keep others from misdirecting the glory that belongs to God, but it keeps the person who God uses from swelling up with pride. One of Satan’s greatest weapons against someone who is being used by God is to tempt them to think that the Lord is using them because they possess some superior virtue.God uses ‘nobodies.’ If we think we’ve become ‘somebody’ (in our flesh), then we will cease being used. He will not share His glory with anyone else (Isa. 42:8).PRAYERS AND WARFARE:Father, let me never to be too much ‘at home’ in this world because I am not of this world, but in matters pertaining the kingdom.Father, use me in a way the world will know it is not by my power or wisdom but by your grace and faithfulness.Father, humble me never to take the glory for the great and mighty things You are doing through me.I break away from the temptation to share your glory in all you do in my life.I bind the spirit of pride and silence their dominion in my life, soul and spirit.Father, empower me with the right blessings which thou blessed me from the foundation of the world.Father, guide me on the path of life and lead me to the way of everlasting glory.My going out today is blessed, my returning is blessed. Our Midweek Message💦💦💦💦💦💦💦”NO MATTER HOW STRONG THE SHEEP IS, IT CANNOT FIGHT THE LION AND THE BEAR….PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR!”Text: Matthew 26:31Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.Since the day Jesus asked the Disciples three times to help Him pray but none did, it has become the practice of Most Church members to completely ignore one of the most important things they can do for their Pastor – “Pray For Him”.If Jesus didn’t get one out of Twelve Disciples to intercede for Him in that crucial moment it is not likely today’s Pastor will get one out of hundred, if your Church membership is less than hundred you are likely not to have anybody do it.What about the prayer warriors?Most prayer warriors see their ministry as for the “Church Members” not the Pastor, if they lead prayer for about an hour the Pastor may get about 5 minutes and the five minutes is:”Let us pray for God To use our Pastor, Daddy, Prophet etc mightily to be a Blessing to us, God should open his eyes to see and ears to hear so he can reveal what the Devil is doing and to release Gods blessings over us”Essentially the One hour prayer is all about Church members. Some of the Prayer Warriors also see their work as a stage to enter into the “Ministry” So it is more of the impartation he/she wants to receive rather than what he can contribute to the Spiritual life of the Pastors.Most Pastors suffer in silence because It is not easy for Pastors to share their Challenges with Church members, that is why every member praying for him is very important, the prayers of the Church can do a lot to help the Pastor stabilized and be stronger.Jesus asked for prayer support, Paul asked for Prayer support I don’t think any Pastor can do much if he doesn’t get prayer backing from some people regularly.The Church members who don’t pray for their Pastors are the first to leave in times of crisis, they came to receive and not to do “ministry”.These people don’t see any responsibility towards the Pastor, they talk more about him, criticized him, threatens very often at the least provocation to leave the Church but NEVER spend minutes to pray for him.No matter how powerful you think you are as a Christian, as long as Church members remain the ” Sheep” and the Pastor the “Shepherd”, the strength of the Shepherd is more crucial to the survival of the sheep.Of all the things you want to do for your Pastor one of the most important is PRAYER.If you have never prayed for your Pastor before, repent and start today.1 Samuel 17:34-35And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:[35] And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.2 Thessalonians 3:1-2Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:[2] And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.♨️ PrayersHeavenly Father, I thank you for this understanding, help me to always intercede for our pastors and leaders in Jesus mighty name Amen. Everything we do turns out to be unfavorable. We feel too weak that we can give up hope in life and when we try to gather the courage to stand again, only to receive another blow. When it happens over and over again, we begin to lose strength and feel as if giving up is the only way out. Don’t ever give up. Life is all about ups and downs.Don’t ever feel too weak to rise again, if you can rise after a fall, you can do it over and over again. You just need to keep trusting in God. The scripture has said trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. God wants to bring out the best in you by all the afflictions, the trials, the oppositions, the disappoinment and the betrayals.For the Bible says,” I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall follow…”So in the face of trials, trust and obey.In the midst of opposition, trust and obey.In the midst of lack, trust and obey.In the midst of affliction, trust and obey.Whatever comes your way, keep trusting the Lord and keep believing in his word, in his name and in his promises.Keep believing, keep trusting is the way to go.Hear me child of God, keep trusting and keep believing is the key for assessing his mercy and kindness.Have a blissful day. ✍️✍️✍️❤️♨️ PrayersHeavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of my life.
