Therefore, “I AM NOT OF THIS WORLD (John 18:26)” means I am a pilgrim in this world, and I am not under the influence of Satan. It means I am a citizen of Christ’s kingdom with a temporary abode here on earth.Jesus, bearing his cross, went forth to suffer without the gate. The Christian’s reason for leaving the camp of the world’s sin and religion is not because he loves to be singular, but because Jesus did so; and the disciple must follow his Master. Christ was “not of the world:” his life and his testimony were a constant protest against conformity with the world. Never was such overflowing affection for men as you find in him; but still he was separate from sinners. In like manner Christ’s people must “go forth unto him.”They must take their position “without the camp,” as witness-bearers for the truth. They must be prepared to tread the straight and narrow path. They must have bold, unflinching, lion-like hearts, loving Christ first, and his truth next, and Christ and his truth beyond all the world. Jesus would have his people “go forth without the camp” for their own sanctification. You cannot grow in grace to any high degree while you are conformed to the world. The life of separation may be a path of sorrow, but it is the highway of safety; and though the separated life may cost you many pangs, and make every day a battle, yet it is a happy life after all. No joy can excel that of the soldier of Christ: Jesus reveals himself so graciously, and gives such sweet refreshment, that the warrior feels more calm and peace in his daily strife than others in their hours of rest.The highway of holiness is the highway of communion. It is thus we shall hope to win the crown if we are enabled by divine grace faithfully to follow Christ “without the camp.” (Hebrews 13:12)The crown of glory will follow the cross of separation. The 24 elders prostrate themselves and worship God, declaring His glory, honor, and power. All creatures in heaven praise God. It is therefore good that the children of God on Earth should also praise and worship God. The only creatures whose praise to God abhors are the devil and his cohorts of darkness, the wicked, and hypocrites. As children of God, let us make praise and worship our lifestyle; let us learn new songs to worship our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It is a period between God’s promises and his fulfillment. Prayers, Fasting and Patience are the three principles of the waiting room. What this means is that, at the waiting room, you must pray, fast and wait patiently for God’s manifestation.Prayer sometimes tarrieth, like a petitioner at the gate, until the King cometh forth to fill her bosom with the blessings which she seeketh. The Lord, when he hath given great faith, has been known to try it by long delaying. He has suffered his servants’ voices to echo in their ears as from a brazen sky. They have knocked at the golden gate, but it has remained immovable, as though it were rusted upon its hinges. Like Jeremiah, they have cried,“Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.” (Lamentations 3:44).Thus have true saints continued long in patient waiting without reply, not because their prayers were not vehement, nor because they were unaccepted, but because it so pleased him who is a Sovereign, and who gives according to his own pleasure. If it pleases him to bid our patience exercise itself, shall he not do as he wills with his own! Beggars must not be choosers either as to time, place, or form. But we must be careful not to take delays in prayer for denials: God’s long-dated bills will be punctually honoured; we must not suffer Satan to shake our confidence in the God of truth by pointing to our unanswered prayers. Unanswered petitions are not unheard. God keeps a file for our prayers—they are not blown away by the wind, they are treasured in the King’s archives. This is a registry in the court of heaven wherein every prayer is recorded. Tried believer, thy Lord hath a tear-bottle in which the costly drops of sacred grief are put away, and a book in which thy holy groanings are numbered. By and by, thy suit shall prevail. Canst thou not be content to wait a little? Will not thy Lord’s time be better than thy time? Shall the head be crowned with thorns (Mathew 27:29), and shall the other members of the body be rocked upon the dainty lap of ease?Must Christ pass through seas of his own blood to win the crown, and are we to walk to heaven dryshod in silver slippers?No, our Master’s experience teaches us that suffering is necessary, and the true-born child of God must not, would not, escape it if he might. But there is one very comforting thought in the fact of Christ’s “being made perfect through suffering” (Hebrews 2:10) —it is, that he can have complete sympathy with us.“He is not an high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.”(Hebrews 4:15)In this sympathy of Christ we find a sustaining power. One of the early martyrs said,“I can bear it all, for Jesus suffered, and he suffers in me now; he sympathizes with me, and this makes me strong.”(1 Peter 2:21)Believer, lay hold of this thought in all times of agony. Let the thought of Jesus strengthen you as you follow in his steps. Find a sweet support in his sympathy; and remember that, to suffer is an honourable thing—to suffer for Christ is glory.The apostles rejoiced that they were counted worthy to do this. Just so far as the Lord shall give us grace to suffer for Christ, to suffer with Christ, just so far does he honour us. The jewels of a Christian are his afflictions. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we are called the children of God. Healing is for us. We are not supposed to be coming to God begging for a crumb of bread (just a crumb of healing). We are to sit at the Father’s table as His children and eat of the bread of healing.This woman gained comfort in her misery by thinking great thoughts of Christ. The Master had talked about the children’s bread: “Now,” argued she, “since thou art the Master of the table of grace, I know that thou art a generous housekeeper, and there is sure to be abundance of bread on thy table; there will be such an abundance for the children that there will be crumbs to throw on the floor for the dogs, and the children will fare none the worse because the dogs are fed.” She thought him one who kept so good a table that all that she needed would only be a crumb in comparison; yet remember, what she wanted was to have the devil cast out of her daughter.It was a very great thing to her, but she had such a high esteem of Christ, that she said, “It is nothing to him, it is but a crumb for Christ to give.”This is the royal road to comfort. Great thoughts of your sin alone will drive you to despair; but great thoughts of Christ will pilot you into the haven of peace. “My sins are many, but oh! it is nothing to Jesus to take them all away. She confessed what Christ laid at her door, but she laid fast hold upon him, and drew arguments even out of his hard words; she believed great things of him, and she thus overcame him. Then all the disciples forsook him and fled”Text: Matthew 26:56MESSAGE🍎“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end” (Lamentations 3:22). Steadfast love is a unique covenant love that only God can give. The Hebrew word translated steadfast love to mean, faithful love, lovingkindness, gracious love, or even mercy. Such is the case of Jesus, to his disciples. He never deserted them, but they in cowardly fear of their lives, fled from him in the very beginning of his sufferings. This is but one instructive instance of the frailty of all believers if left to themselves; they are but sheep at the best, and they flee when the wolf cometh. They had all been warned of the danger, and had promised to die rather than leave their Master; and yet they were seized with sudden panic, and took to their heels. It may be, that I, at the opening of this day, have braced up my mind to bear a trial for the Lord’s sake, and I imagine myself to be certain to exhibit perfect fidelity; but let me be very jealous of myself, lest having the same evil heart of unbelief, I should depart from my Lord (Hebrews 3:12) as the apostles did.It is one thing to promise, and quite another to perform. It would have been to their eternal honour to have stood at Jesus’ side right manfully; they fled from honour; may I be kept away from imitating them! Where else could they have been so safe as near their Master, who could presently call for twelve legions of angels?They fled from their true safety. O God, let me not play the fool also. Divine grace can make the coward brave. The smoking flax (Isaiah 42:3) can flame forth like fire on the altar when the Lord wills it. These very apostles who were timid as hares, grew to be bold as lions after the Spirit had descended upon them, and even so the Holy Spirit can make my recreant spirit brave to confess my Lord and witness for his truth.What anguish must have filled the Saviour as he saw his friends so faithless! This was one bitter ingredient in his cup; but that cup is drained dry; let me not put another drop in it. If I forsake my Lord, I shall crucify him afresh, and put him to an open shame. Birch Freeman came to Badagry in 1842.■The seven churches Jesus spoke to in Revelations 2 & 3(Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea) existed in the old Turkey.■Turkey once had the largest Christian auditorium in Europe called Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.■Mary the mother of Jesus was taken to Turkey by Apostle John and till date, her room has become a tourist centre.TURKEY TODAY■Present day Turkey now has 96% muslims & 0.02% Christians(less than 130,000).■The Hagia Sophia(once largest church in Europe) was taken over by muslims and converted to a mosque for over 400yrs and later used as an Islamic Museum.WHY CHRISTIANITY COLLAPSED IN TURKEY■Emphasis on doctrinal differences weakened the Turkish church.■Rivalries amongst denominations.■Petty politics in church coupled with ethnic biases.■The Turks were building big cathedrals instead of building men.HOW IT HAPPENED■Osman Ghazi discovered the disunity amongst Christians and used it to fight a Jihad that led to a mass genocide of the Armenians, the Hellen and Turks of that day. In fact, the weapon of war used was designed by a Turkish Christian.■Many Christian women converted to Islam to save their lives and some were raped and killed.■Osman Ghazi started the Ottoman empire which gave muslims political post and made it a religion of the state.IS NIGERIA/GHANA HEADING THE WAY OF TURKEY■Virtually all the mistakes the church in Turkey made, the Nigerian/Ghanaian church have made it.■We are building Cathedrals at the expense of discipling men.■Disunity amongst churches.■Ethnicity in the church.■Denominational rivalry, etc.■Sharp division along doctrinal lines.MORE FACTS■The spiritual foundation of Turkey is stronger than that of Nigeria/ Ghana and Christianity existed for over 1000yrs in Turkey unlike ours which is just 172yrs but Islam Radicalism uprooted it. If it happened in Turkey, it can also happen in Nigeria/Ghana if we are not careful.■The menace of Boko Haram has destroyed a lot of churches in the Northern Nigeria, and it may take another 200yrs to evangelize Borno State alone.■There is a secret agenda to Islamize Nigeria and other African nations as contained in Abuja declaration of 1989.DON’T SAY IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE, IF WE DON’T RIGHT OUR WRONGS AS A CHURCHSOLUTION■HEART-FELT Intercession.■Aggressive evangelism – the terrorist reached out to the youths in the Norths first and gave them AK-47 and bombs. lf we had reached out to them on time, they’ll be carrying BIBLES today.■Mission support – God is holding the church responsible for Boko Haram, yet we are blaming the government. If we had supported missions andmissionaries, we would have had those insurgents to Christ long ago.■Unity of the church is key in winning this battle. Faith is the angelic messenger between the soul and the Lord Jesus in glory.Without faith, we can neither send up prayers, nor receive the answers.Faith is the telegraphic wire which links earth and heaven—on which God’s messages of love fly so fast, that before we call he answers, and while we are yet speaking he hears us. In the old Testament, David was the Beloved of God. He was the beloved because he was the man after God’s heart, he was the anointed of God.Today this word is used generally to refer to God’s people as a whole in the Book of Isaiah and Jeremiah.This was a golden name which the ancient Church in her most joyous moments was wont to give to the Anointed of the Lord.When the time of the singing of birds was come, and the voice of the turtle was heard in her land, her love-note was sweeter than either, as she sang, “My beloved is mine and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.” (Song of Solomon 2:16)Ever in her song of songs doth she call him by that delightful name, “My beloved!” Even in the long winter, when idolatry had withered the garden of the Lord, her prophets found space to lay aside the burden of the Lord for a little season, and to say, as Isaiah did,“Now will I sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard.” (Isaiah 5:1)Though the saints had never seen his face, though as yet he was not made flesh, nor had dwelt among us, nor had man beheld his glory, yet he was the consolation of Israel, the hope and joy of all the chosen, the “beloved” of all those who were upright before the Most High.We, in Hammer Word Bible Church, want to speak of Christ as the best beloved of our soul, and to feel that he is very precious, the “chiefest among ten thousand, and the altogether lovely.” So true is it that the Church loves Jesus, and claims him as her beloved, that the apostle dares to defy the whole universe to separate her from the love of Christ, and declares that neither persecutions, distress, affliction, peril, or the sword have been able to do it; nay, he joyously boasts, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37)O that we knew more of thee, thou ever precious one!“My sole possession is thy love;In earth beneath, or heaven above,I have no other store;And though with fervent suit I pray,And importune thee day by day,I ask thee nothing more.”We do not know more words to use to illustrate the love of God that made us His beloved. (1 John 3:1).“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not”HOW DO I BECOME GOD’S BELOVED?Being God’s beloved is our right as a child of God. So to become God’s beloved, you must be a child of God, that is you must be born again (John 3:7). Then when you are born again, you must;Be self-aware that you are the beloved.Become a student of Jesus. That is you must the imitator of Jesus, follow his example and pattern.Be a truth-seekerSurround yourself with other whole hearted believers.Be gracious to God and other believers.This will make you the beloved of God.PRAYERS🍎Heavenly Father, I thank you for the manner of love you have bestowed on me and my family that we should be your children.I appreciate you for the continuous sustenance of our lives and souls. I surrender to your total love and guides, empower me to walk in your love and help me to live in the comfort of your care, in Jesus mighty name, Amen.Heavenly Father, this day, my going out is blessed, and my coming in is blessed. ULTIMATE CARE DEVOTIONAL ⛪💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2022Today’s Theme: ⛪ THE FATHER’S LOVE”As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you.”Text: John 15:9MESSAGEThe Father, the Almighty God loves us and bestows on us “the sons of God” Hear Him in 1 John 3: 1:“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not”.As the Father loves the Son, in the same manner Jesus loves his people. What is that divine method? He loved him from the foundation of the world. From the very beginning, thus Jesus loves his family members also.The members of His body,“I have loved thee with an everlasting love.” (Jer.31:3)You can trace the beginning of human affection; you can easily find the beginning of your love to Christ, but his love to us is a stream whose source is hidden in eternity.“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” (Jer.31:3).God the Father loves Jesus without any change. Christian, take this for your comfort, that there is no change in Jesus Christ’s love to those who rest in him. Yesterday, you were on Hill Top Mansion, and you said, “He loves me:” today you are in the valley of humiliation, but he loves you still the same. For the God of the mountain is still God in the valley.“On the hill Mizar, and among the Hermons, you heard his voice, which spake so sweetly with the turtle-notes of love” (Psalm 42:6); and now on the sea, or even in the sea, when all his waves and billows go over you, his heart is faithful to his ancient choice. The Father loves the Son without any end, and thus does the Son love his people.Saint, thou needs not fear the loosing of the silver cord, for his love for thee will never cease. Rest confident that even down to the grave Christ will go with you, and that up again from it he will be your guide to the celestial hills.Moreover, the Father loves the Son without any measure, and the same immeasurable love the Son bestows upon his chosen ones. The whole heart of Christ is dedicated to his people.“He loved us and gave himself for us.” (Galatians 2:20) .His is a love which passes knowledge. Ah! we have indeed an immutable Saviour, a precious Saviour, one who loves without measure, without change, without beginning, and without end, even as the Father loves him! There is much food here for those who know how to digest it.May the Holy Ghost lead us into its marrow and fatness in Jesus mighty name, Amen.PRAYERSHeavenly Father, I thank you for your love for me and my family.Father, on your account of love, you sent your only begotten Son to die for me and for all men. Lord today I am free from all manners of sins and griefs because of your love. I am free from all evil covenants and abominations because Christ hath redeemed me from the curse of the law, thank you Father.Father, because of your love, I am a partaker of the blessings of Abraham.
