THE TEXT:(2 CHRONICLES 17:12-19)12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.18 And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.19 These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.3.) THE MESSAGE:I.) Often times, people see and admire an already made and successful man. They see his glory as it shines bright and desire to be like him. But many do not really know the story behind such glory neither are they willing to learn from what it cost to reach such an enviable height.II.) Successful men do not just appear out of the blues; they have stories to tell about their rise to limelight.III.) Our passage today gives us a glimpse of Jehoshaphat’s wealth, strength and glory. He worked assiduously hard to fortify his kingdom and sought the Lord diligently like his forefather, David. He jettisoned the prevailing lifestyle of Baal worship and refused to be influenced by the vices of the neighbouring nation of Israel. Consequently, the presence of the Lord strengthened and prospered him with the glory.IV.) It is not enough to desire the kind of glory you see in highly prospered children of God; you should be willing to learn from their story of deep devotion and dedication to the Lord as well as their discipline and dutiful devotion to their works. Avoid all temptations to cut corners and cheat in order to be successful.V.) The Lord is willing to bless you with His presence and strengthen you to prosper as He did for Jehoshaphat if you too will look away from the common practices around you, fear the Lord and diligently follow His ways. Your life will be glorious and your story, sweet to tell.Don’t just admire the glory; learn from the story behind it!♨️ PrayersHeavenly Father, I thank you for your love and support for my life and family.Father grant me the glory that I deserve for the pathway you have taken me through.Help me in thy faithfulness and mercy. A man who holds God dearly will refrain himself from some actions and when he fails, you can tell that he is deeply sorrowful. On the other hand, men who live by their own standards do not put God into consideration in determining what to do and will often not be remorseful if they take the wrong actions. All that matters to the second set of men, is to win at any cost.Psalms 94:3″LORD, how long shall the wicked,how long shall the wicked triumph?”These men are proud, wicked and boastful, often preying on othersPsalms 94:2 – 5″Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth:render a reward to the proud.RD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?They break in pieces thy people, O LORD,and afflict thine heritage.”The frame of mind of the second set of men is that God is not paying attention to all that is going on and even if He does, He will overlook it.Psalms 94:7″Yet they say, The LORD shall not see,neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.”Child of God, don’t let this be your mind-set. You may look all around you and see that so many are thriving by taking the evil road (Psalm 94:3). You have asked the question countless times as the psalmist also did, “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?”Psalms 94:16″Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?”and you have found no one. Please be assured that God in heaven knows and sees all. He is the one that planted the ear and formed the eye and so he hears and sees all.Psalms 94:9″He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?he that formed the eye, shall he not see?”He may choose to bear long with you but one day he will avenge you.Luke 17:7 – 8″But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?”And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?”When that day comes his vengeance will be swiftIn the book of Revelation the Lord comes out sharing with us all that he knows (Revelation 3:1-22). He knows when you are full of yourself and pompous without knowing your own wretchedness, miserableness, poverty and nakednessRevelation 3:16, 17″So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”It is not just that he knows these things but everyone will get a reward for that which they do. So child of God, even though it may seem as if the Lord does not see or know what you’re passing through, He does and in the fullness of time he will redress it.Galatians 4:4″But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,”and each man will be rewarded according to what he has done.Revelation 22:12″And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”Dear beloved, God knows everyone and our work very well, God recognizes us and rewarded us as per our deeds. If we follow and keep His teachings and commandments, if we remain faithful and obedient with God, surely we will be blessed, not just in the life after but here on earth now very soon. Our Daily Meditation💦💦💦💦💦💦💦INTERNALIZATION OF THE WORD BRINGS TRANSFORMATION”But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”-(2 Corinthians 3:18)As you study the Word of God, you see a glorious you, because the Word mirrors you. The picture of you that you see in the Word is always one of glory. You’ll see that divinity is at work in you; you’ll see the power of an endless life. The more you see it, the more you’re transformed into the same image that you see in the Word. It’s an amazing spiritual principle. That’s the reality of how the Word of God works.That’s why James admonishes us to keep looking into the Word of God, which he calls the perfect law of liberty (James 1:25). Keep looking at the scriptures that talk about your righteousness, your oneness with the Lord, your triumphant life in Christ Jesus.👍👍👍👍👍👍Jesus said in John 15:16,.I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain….” This means He’s given you a life of endless prosperity; your success shouldn’t be short-lived. Contemplate this every day. As you behold such words, the reality of what they say becomes your vital experience.❤️❤️✍️✍️👍👍Through the Word, you’re established in righteousness and flourish like the palm tree, with great grace and glory! Maybe it’s your health; Isaiah 33:24 says “they that dwell in Zion shall not say, ‘I am sick.’” Meditate on it consciously. As you do, you’d come to the realization that the reason you don’t say, “I’m sick” is that you don’t get sick. You’re an associate of the God-kind; you have the indestructible life of God in you.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️The same goes for your safety and protection. The Word says in Psalm 23:4, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. That means no matter what happens, your safety is guaranteed in Christ. Christ is the environment in which you dwell; therefore, you’re forever in safety. Take this seriously. Outline areas where you want changes; search out the relevant scriptures and meditate on them consciously. Praise God!👍👍👍👍👍👍Dear Father, thank you for your glory in my life. Even if Scripture did not declare this, there are many of the children of God who could testify the truth of it from their own experience. They have had manifestations of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in a peculiar manner, such as no mere reading or hearing could afford. In the biographies of eminent saints, you will find many instances recorded in which Jesus has been pleased, in a very special manner to speak to their souls, and to unfold the wonders of his person; yea, so have their souls been steeped in happiness that they have thought themselves to be in heaven, whereas they were not there, though they were well nigh on the threshold of it—for when Jesus manifests himself to his people, it is heaven on earth; it is paradise in embryo; it is bliss begun. Especial manifestations of Christ exercise a holy influence on the believer’s heart. One effect will be humility. If a man says, “I have had such-and-such spiritual communications, I am a great man,” he has never had any communion with Jesus at all; for “God hath respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.” He does not need to come near them to know them, and will never give them any visits of love. Another effect will be happiness; for in God’s presence there are pleasures for evermore. Holiness will be sure to follow. A man who has no holiness has never had this manifestation. Some men profess a great deal; but we must not believe any one unless we see that his deeds answer to what he says. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked.” He will not bestow his favours upon the wicked: for while he will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he respect an evil doer. Thus there will be three effects of nearness to Jesus—humility, happiness, and holiness. It was a new scene, and likely to be a trying one: who shall venture among couriers of a foreign monarch without anxiety? Yet the way was evidently appointed for him, and therefore he resolved to go. This is frequently the position of believers now—they are called to perils and temptations altogether untried: at such seasons let them imitate Jacob’s example by offering sacrifices of prayer unto God, and seeking his direction; let them not take a step until they have waited upon the Lord for his blessing: then they will have Jacob’s companion to be their friend and helper. How blessed to feel assured that the Lord is with us in all our ways, and condescends to go down into our humiliations and banishments with us! Even beyond the ocean our Father’s love beams like the sun in its strength. We cannot hesitate to go where Jehovah promises his presence; even the valley of deathshade grows bright with the radiance of this assurance. Marching onwards with faith in their God, believers shall have Jacob’s promise. They shall be brought up again, whether it be from the troubles of life or the chambers of death. Jacob’s seed came out of Egypt in due time, and so shall all the faithful pass unscathed through the tribulation of life, and the terror of death. Let us exercise Jacob’s confidence. “Fear not,” is the Lord’s command and his divine encouragement to those who at his bidding are launching upon new seas; the divine presence and preservation forbid so much as one unbelieving fear. Without our God we should fear to move; but when he bids us to, it would be dangerous to tarry. Reader, go forward, and fear not. Our Midweek Devotion 💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦♨️BEWARE OF DECEIT♨️”Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8″).MESSAGE:The Apostle Paul exhorted the church in Colossae about the strategy of the enemy to entangle them again. The devil was going to do that through philosophy and vain deceit with respect to tradition and rudiments of the world. The strategy of the enemy and his cohorts of darkness still lingers on today. He has colored the educational system with subjects and courses that seek to mock our faith. An example is the big bang theory, which does not recognize God as the creator of the earth. Another example is a false belief by some Jews that without circumcision in the flesh, one cannot be born again. When a person becomes born again, all the old things, including human traditions and philosophies, pass away (2 Corinthians 5:17). What the believer in Christ needs to do is to adopt the Word of God and God’s culture, which is found in the scriptures. The scriptures show you how to live a godly and victorious life, a life of spiritual liberty. Christians should be on the alert to reject the vain deceits of the devil through the Word of God.
