A statute is a law or decree made by God.A commandment is a divine rule, especially one of the Ten Commandments. These show that the Word of God has many good things to offer:It converts our souls, makes us wise, rejoices our hearts, and enlightens our eyes (Psalms 19:7–8).Your total dependent on the Word of God, and anchoring your life on the word will move you from glory to glory.We are called to abide in Christ always. Abide in his word always. For we cannot achieve anything in life without abiding in the word (John 15:1-7). God is looking for people who are consecrated, or set apart for His use. He chose you and called you from the foundation of the world that we should be holy and be blameless, as children of light.“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (EPHESIANS 1:4)Walking in holiness is the proof of your oneness with God Almighty. God is always good and wants the best for His children. He loves to fellowship with His children. Holiness is His nature, and He wants His children to always live in holiness (Leviticus 21:8).“Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctify you, am holy”He is Holy and has called us to Holiness;15 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear”.He wants us to be Holy in all manner of conversation. Candle is a holy illumination of the Spirit of truth.Though God is light, but He makes use of candles. In a world of gross darkness, what God needs is candle to capture the territory and squash darkness.What is God’s Candle?Proverbs 20:27, says “The Spirit of man is the candle of the Lord.”The Candle of the Lord is man’s spirit. God needs man’s spirit to align with His Spirit for exploits. Amos 3:3 says “can two walk together except they be agreed”? And Amos 3:7 adds;” Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (KJV)It is God’s desire to deliver a territory from darkness. But the challenge is that He needs a candle. He needs men that will present their candles and receive light that will bring deliverance to their territory and set at liberty those that are bound.Examples of those that presented their Candles in the Bible to the Lord for use;Daniel in Daniel 5:11. Daniel remained relevant in his days because his candles which receive light from God.“There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers” (Daniel 5:11).John the Baptist was also a burning light for God in his generation.6 “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John” (John 1:6). He was called of God as the candle of light;33” Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light” (John 5:33,35).In Job 25:3, the Bible says;“Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arises?”I want to rightly inform you that every vessel of God carries some magnitude of God’s light. As a child of God, learn to psych (psych comes from Greek word meaning breath, spirit, soul, mind; it denotes the human soul, spirit or mind) your mind to learn from God and nature (Psalm 19:1–3).“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard”.God created day and night, light and darkness, cold and heat, sweet and bitter, heaven and hell, joy and sorrow, etc. Therefore, we must know that the only thing that is constant is change, but God cannot change (Malach1 3:6)Beloved, if you are going through a period of darkness in your life, encourage yourself with God’s Word and know that surely your light will come. The Lord will light your darkness for you to have joy and testify that the Lord is good (Psalm 30:11). Cease from complaining, worrying, and murmuring; turn these into praise, thanksgiving, and dancing. When you create the atmosphere of praise, thanksgiving, and dancing in the midst of your sorrows and difficulties, God is glorified, and He comes speedily to rescue you. Hallelujah! John does not say, “If any man sin, he has forfeited his advocate,” but “we have an advocate,” sinners though some are. Who is an Advocate?An Advocate is someone who speaks up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. An Advocate is also a person who speaks on behalf of someone and judge fairly; defends the rights of the poor and needy. The Holy Spirit is called The Advocate. Once we put our trust in Jesus, He defends us. He testifies with our spirit that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16). While the Devil accuses us before the father.Satan accuses us before God, our Father, day and night concerning all our sins. Now is come Salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of the brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God, day and night” (Rev. 12:10)while the Holy Spirit is the Advocate to the brethren (1 John 2:1).All the sin that a believer ever did, or can commit, cannot destroy his interest in the Lord Jesus Christ, as his advocate. The name here given to our Lord is suggestive. “Jesus.” Ah! then he is an advocate such as we need, for Jesus is the name of one whose business and delight it is to save. “They shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins” (Mathew 1:21). His sweetest name implies his success. Next, it is “Jesus Christ”—Christos, the anointed.This shows his authority to plead. The Christ has a right to plead, for he is the Father’s own appointed advocate and elected priest, so I called him “Our Senior Advocate”. If he were of our choosing, he might fail, but if God hath laid help upon one that is mighty (Psalm 89:19), we may safely lay our trouble where God has laid his help. ‘He is Christ, and therefore authorized’; ‘he is Christ, and therefore qualified’, for the anointing has fully fitted him for his work.He can plead so as to move the heart of God and prevail. What words of tenderness, what sentences of persuasion will the anointed use when he stands up to plead for me! One more letter of his name remains, “Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1). This is not only his character but his plea. And if the Righteous One be my Senior Advocate, then my cause is good, or he would not have espoused it. It is his plea, for he meets the charge of unrighteousness against me by the plea that he is righteous. He declares himself my substitute and puts his obedience to my account (Isaiah 53:4-8).4 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken”.My soul, thou hast a friend well fitted to be thine advocate, he cannot but succeed; I leave myself entirely in his hands. And he Jesus transferred his light to us and declared, “You are the light of the world, A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid”(Mathew 14). Based on the following biblical injunctions, Light represents God. Light represents a true believer in Jesus Christ. The Bible says God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1: 5; refer; Micah 7:8).In John 8:12 Jesus says “I am the light of the world. Whoever that follow me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life”.Light also signifies God’s presence and favour (Psalm 27:1; 2 Cor. 4:6). Light represents faith, holiness, righteousness, etc.The believer in Christ Jesus as light in John 9:5. The Bible reads,” As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:5). Walking in Light means walking according to the will of God.Walking in Light means living according to the purpose of God in your life.Walking in Light means living a life of righteousness and true holiness.Walking in Light means living in the truth.Walking in Light means living in the love of God and obeying his commandments always.Walking in Light means not having anything to do with the unfruitful works of darkness.A believer has two principles at work within him which may portray light.We can live by one of the two principles; we live either by the principle of life or by the principle of right and wrong, good and evil. We can live either on the line of life depending on the Lord as life or we can just live according to the knowledge of good and evil.“And out of the ground made the Lord to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:9).These two trees issue brought about the two principles of living. We in his natural estate (the nature of sin) was subjected to one principle only, which was darkness; now light has entered, and the twoprinciples (laws)disagree (2 Corinthians 6:14), “Be ye not unequally yoke together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?Mark the Apostle Paul’s words in the seventh chapter of Romans:“I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin, which is in my members.” (Romans 7: 21-23)How is this state of things occasioned?In Genesis 1: 4, “The Lord divided the light from the darkness.”Darkness, by itself, was quiet and undisturbed, but when the Lord sent in light, there was a conflict, for the one is in opposition to the other: a conflict which will never cease till the believer is altogether light in the Lord. If there be a division within the individual Christian, there is certain to be a division without. So soon as the Lord gives to any man light, he proceeds to separate himself from the darkness around; he secedes from a merely worldly religion of outward ceremonial, for nothing short of the gospel of Christ will now satisfy him, and he withdraws himself from worldly society and frivolous amusements, and seeks the company of the saints, for “We know we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren”(1 John 3:14). The light gathers to itself, and the darkness to itself.What God has divided, let us never try to unite, but as Christ went without the camp, bearing his reproach, so let us come out from the ungodly, and be a peculiar people. They have been made to fall in their thousands at our side; they have been made not to prevail, and neither will they prevail. Our theme says, the enemy shall not come near you. Which you? The believer in Christ Jesus. The born again child of God, walking in the will of God. Why will the enemy not come near the true believer for evil? This is because, the true believer is surrounded by the chariot of fire of God, and the fire of God burns any evil thing coming against the child of God (Psalm 97:3) Jesus said, “the prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me” (John 14: 30).Therefore, there is no need, as a child of God, to fear the enemy.Besides the devil and his cohort of darkness, anything that seeks to oppose or seek your downfall as a child of God is an enemy.All of these have been designed to fall flat before us and never to have control over us.
